Hardback Edition
New & Unread - Published 2020

Arlo The Lion Who Couldn't Sleep is a beautifully illustrated story with a gentle mindfulness message from Kate Greenaway Medal winner Catherine Rayner – ideal for bedtime, and especially helpful for little ones who have trouble going to sleep.

Arlo the lion is exhausted. He just can't drop off, no matter what he tries. It's either too hot, or too cold; too loud or too quiet. But then he meets Owl. She can sleep through the day, which isn't easy when most other animals are awake! Will Arlo ever get any rest? Perhaps his new friend has some special tricks she can teach him ...

About the Author: Catherine Rayner studied illustration at Edinburgh College of Art. She fell in love with the city and still lives there with her family and a small menagerie of creatures including Shannon the horse, Ena the cat and a goldfish called Richard, all of whom inspire her artwork. In 2008 Catherine was selected as one of the Ten Best New Illustrators for Booktrust's Big Picture Campaign. She has been short-listed for the prestigious Kate Greenaway Medal four times, and won in 2009 for Harris Finds His Feet. In addition to illustrating for other authors such as Michael Bond, Holly Webb and Michael Morpurgo, she has also written her own picture books, including Ernest, Solomon Crocodile, Solomon and Mortimer and Smelly Louie, which won the Peter's Book of the Year award in 2015.

All our signed books include a 'Signed Copy' gift tag, supplied free of charge.

Please Note: By their very nature, all signed books will have been handled several times before they get to you. This may result in small marks to the dustjacket and title page, please also bear in mind that each signature will be a little different from the one we show here. We use courier and signed for delivery services, so please use an address at which your parcel can be signed for during the normal working day. Bookplates are official labels which are signed by the author and then fixed to the title page of the book.
