Do revolutions start in Bookshops?
This has been a week of Art books – books which are not just beautiful to look at, but books which show how beautiful and vibrant the world can be, either by design or by nature.
The walk through town to and from the book shop when the weather is like this is a real joy – it’s not just a great opportunity for exercise, it’s the complete sensory experience.
It’s been a while since there was a sporting weekend like this – the weight of expectation heavy on such young shoulders, the dreams of a nation to be played out on the Wembley turf, only the edge of seats will be used on Sunday evening – the streets outside will be quiet whilst the emotional roller-coaster goes on indoors, one last push – ‘For England & St.George!’
Being a bookseller is like being an adventurer – heading off into the wide world to see what you can find, you have a map, you have an idea or two, but most importantly you have your curiosity
