This new volume focuses on polymers, their characterization, and their various applications. These include drug delivery applications, electromagnetic shielding, ferroelectric applications, and many more. The book covers synthesis, characterization, and property studies of some of these polymers including their morphology, structure, and dynamics. It also introduces the most recent innovations and applications of polymers, fillers, and their composites in the electronics, biomedical, pharmaceutical, and engineering industries. Topics also include ferroelectric ceramics and the numerous polymers used for radiation shielding applications.

About the Author: Suji Mary Zachariah is currently working as Research Scholar under the guidance of Prof. Sabu Thomas at International and Inter University Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Kottayam, Mahatma Gandhi University, India. She is also affiliated with the Centre de Recherche Christian Huygens, Lorient, France. She has expertise in polymer science. Her research interests are in the field of polymer-based nanocomposites for electromagnetic interference shielding application. Miss Zachariah mainly works on the development of absorption dominated materials from sustainable resources and fabrication of several biopolymer composites with improved mechanical, electrical and shielding properties. Yang Weimin, PhD, is Professor of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Beijing University of Chemical Technology, China, and Director of the Polymer Processing and Advanced Manufacturing Center. He is also a Distinguished Professor of the Chang Jiang Scholars Program, China Ministry of Education. His research interests are polymer processing and advanced manufacture technology, mainly focused on green processes of polymer producing, plastics precision molding, energy saving in tire manufacturing, nano-fiber electrospinning, and enhanced heat transfer in polymer processing. His research group has undertaken over 30 projects supported by the National Science and Technology Support Plan, National Science Foundation of China, and industrial companies. Based on the research results, he has applied for more than 200 invention patents (82 items authorized to present) and has published eight books, and more than 300 journal papers. He has received numerous honors and recognitions. Dr. Yang serves on editorial boards of some important journals related to polymer processing and was also selected as Vice Chairman of the Experts Committee of the China Plastics Processing Industry Association and as Advisor Expert of the China Rubber Processing Industry Association.Maciej Jaroszewski, PhD, is an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at Wroclaw University of Science and Technology, Poland, and also serves as an assistant professor and as head of the High Voltage Laboratory. He is the author and co-author of three book chapters and more than 60 articles dealing with HV insulation, ZnO arresters, dielectric spectroscopy, and EMI shielding. He is also the editor of four books. He is a member of the Polish Committee of Standardization. He is a reviewer for, among others, IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation, IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, and the Royal Society of Chemistry journals. His current research interests include high-voltage insulation and dielectric spectroscopy.Sabu Thomas, PhD, is currently the Vice-Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University and the Founder Director and Professor of the International and Inter University Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Kottayam, India. He is also a full professor of Polymer Science and Engineering at the School of Chemical Sciences and the School of Energy Materials at Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala, India. Professor Thomas is an outstanding leader with sustained international acclaim for his work in nanoscience, polymer science and engineering, polymer nanocomposites, elastomers, polymer blends, interpenetrating polymer networks, polymer membranes, green composites and nanocomposites, nanomedicine, and green nanotechnology. Dr. Thomas has been conferred Honoris Causa DSc from the University of South Brittany, France, and University of Lorraine, France. Very recently he was awarded the Foreign Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences (EurASc) and was listed on Stanford University's list of top 2 percent scientists in the world. He has received many national and international awards, and he has published over 1000 peer-reviewed research papers, reviews, and book chapters. He has co-edited 80 books, and he is the inventor of more than five patents (granted: 4, filed: 11).

UK Delivery

Orders for delivery in the UK are despatched by Courier and Signed For delivery services and will normally be delivered to you within a few days of placing your order. Signed Books are shipped in our specially made book mailing cartons, with the books themselves wrapped in paper to protect them. Sometimes we may ship your order in several parts, particularly if you have 'Pre-Order' titles in your order or titles which are held in stock with our publishing partners.

The Really Important Bit: Because we use courier and signed for delivery services, please use an address at which your parcel can be signed for during the normal working day, for example, you may want to have your order delivered to your work address if you're not at home during the day.

First Item @ £3.75 (sometimes a shipping supplement may be added for particularly heavy books or specific postcodes*)
2 Items & over @ £5.00 in total

Another Really Important Bit: There are a number of Postcodes in the UK for which we will need to charge a shipping supplement, this will be calculated once we know the size and weight of the shipment. For these orders we will contact customers to agree a suitable and economic method of shipping. There may also be additional time required for delivery to some areas of the United Kingdom. Where possible, we will ship single book orders (under 2kg) by Royal Mail to all UK postcodes. Multiple book orders and books over 2kg are shipped via APC Overnight, regardless of Postcode.
