How do I use National Book Tokens?
You can use National Book Tokens to pay for your online purchases, just select that option at the Checkout and complete the 19 digit number which you'll find on the reverse of your Book Token underneath the barcode. If the amount of value on your Book Token isn't enough to cover the cost of your purchase, don't worry, we'll give you a quick call to arrange payment of the balance by another means (please be sure to supply your phone number as you Checkout).
What is Divido? And can I use it to pay?
We've partnered up with Divido to offer our customers the opportunity to buy our more expensive Collectors & Limited Edition books (those over £250) in instalments. We're offering the service, subject to status, on an interest free basis with terms of payment between 6 and 12 months. As you browse our online books you'll see those for which this service is available, just select the product you wish to purchase in the normal manner, choose the Divido option at the Checkout and you'll be re-directed to Divido to complete your application.
Who is Eligible for Finance?
Applying for an instalment plan is similar to applying for a new credit card. The details you provide are checked against public registers, such as credit-rating agencies. To increase the chances of acceptance, ideally, you will have a good credit history and meet the following minimum criteria:
- Be a UK resident
- Be over 18 years of age
- Have 3 years of UK address history
- Be working at least 16 hours per week
- Have a valid phone number and email address
- Delivery address must be to the address you put on your finance application (billing address).

Can I back order a title?
If your item is not in stock, we will back order for you. This is done for a small number of the larger, more expensive items which we offer - please allow up to 10 days for delivery of these items.
What are Pre-Orders?
In conjunction with our publishing partners, we’ll sometimes offer a book for ‘Pre-Order’ – based on the understanding that the author has agreed to sign their books on publication. This is done so that we may try and satisfy as many orders as possible. If for any reason the author then chooses not to sign books for these pre-orders, we will contact you as soon as we are notified and offer you an immediate refund.
If your order includes a Pre-Order item amongst items which are in stock, depending on the publication date of the Pre-Order book, we may part-ship your order with the Pre-Order book to follow. In these cases you will only pay the shipping charges associated with the original order – there will be no extra to pay for these part-shipped orders.
What are Last Copies?
We often keep a large stock of our Coles Signed Editions, all neatly tucked away in our stockroom waiting to be packed and shipped. Because we are also a real book shop in the real world, we will have some copies of our Signed Editions out on display in the bookcases and on the tables in the shop - this will sometimes mean that when we get down to the Last Copies of a particular book they may well have been handled many times and could have picked up a few bumps and knocks along the way. If this is the case, we'll clearly show on our website which are the 'Last Copies' and even include a few images of the bumps and knocks.
Can my orders be combined and shipped as one? (Bulk Shipping)
A growing number of customers have asked if we can collate a number of their orders and ship them in bulk – this helps save shipping costs and reduces the frequency are parcels flying about the World. We’re more than delighted to accommodate these requests. All you need to do is choose ‘Click & Collect’ at the Checkout to avoid the shipping charges being added to your order. Just drop us a note to firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know you’d like your orders collated and we’ll safely and securely store your books until you are ready to take shipment, at which time we ask you to arrange payment of the shipping charges in line with our standard shipping tariff.
