This book explains amino acids as alternative green additives in the geo-energy and related carbon sequestration industry.
This book explains amino acids as alternative green additives in the geo-energy and related carbon sequestration industry. It focuses on the role of amino acids in clay swelling inhibition, drilling fluid technology, flow assurance, enhanced oil recovery, gas treatment, geo-carbon separation and sequestration. Amino acids toxicity, biodegradability, and their properties effect on managing the various geo-energy operational chemical related mechanisms are also discussed.Furthermore, the main challenges involved in the use of amino acids in the geo-energy industries are discussed.Discusses mechanisms of relevant amino acids and their possible commercialization in the oil and gas industry Addresses properties of amino acids that promises their use in green oil and gas chemistry Provides knowledge of the use of amino acids in several aspects of the geo-energy industry Clarifies the benefits and drawbacks of using amino acids in the oil and gas industry Provides real-world case studies on the use of amino acids in the oil and gas industry This book is aimed at researchers and graduate students in chemical and petroleum engineering, and geology.

About the Author: Cornelius Borecho Bavoh is a researcher and academician. He is a lecturer at the University of Mines and Technology, Tarkwa. He worked at the Phase Separation Laboratory of the Research Center for CO2 Capture (RCCO2C) in the Chemical Engineering Department of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Seri Iskandar, Perak Darul Ridzuan, Malaysia. He has more than 6 years of experience in tutoring and research at the Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia. Some of his works over ther year focuses on the development of green solvents (amino acids, biomolecules, deep eudetic solvents and ionic liquids) for the oil and gas industry. He has worked on several industrial and fundamental projects related to drilling, gas hydrate, and CO2 capture and separation, and published more than 50 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals, conferences, and book chapters. Bavoh holds PhD. and MSc. degrees in chemical engineering and BSc. (Hons) degree in petroleum engineering. His research expertise includes thermodynamics and kinetics of reservoir fluid phase modeling and characterization, gas hydrate in flow assurance, production of naturally deposited methane hydrates, and application of gas hydrate-based technology in CO2 Capture and natural gas storage and transportation, drilling fluid technology, rheology, and cuttings transport. Bavoh is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).Kwamena Ato Quainoo is a a PhD candidate and a Graduate Research Fellow in the Petroleum Engineering Department at Missouri University of Science and Technology. He currently is a contributor to a grant funded by the National Science Foundation - USA, to develop a thermo-kinetic model for predicting the precipitation of asphaltene in shale reservoirs. Kwamena received his Master's degree in Petroleum Engineering from the Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, where he honed his writing skills and developed a deep appreciation for reading novel scientific papers, writing scientific manuscripts, and reviewing published works. To date, he has published 10 peer-reviewed journals and 2 conference papers, focusing on the usage of green chemicals for hydraulic fracturing and drilling fluids, and gas hydrate inhibition including the development of predictive models for asphaltene precipitation and deposition in shale and conventional reservoirs. In addition to his publications, Kwamena serves as a peer reviewer for top-tier journals such as Colloid and Polymer Science, Journal of Petroleum Exploration and Production Technology, and Biomass Conversion and Biorefinery.

For larger parcels, Courier and Signed For delivery services may be used. Signed Books are shipped in our specially made book mailing cartons, with the books themselves wrapped in paper to protect them. Sometimes we may ship your order in several parts, particularly if you have 'Pre-Order' titles in your order or titles which are held in stock with our publishing partners.

The Really Important Bit: Because we use tracked, courier and signed for delivery services, please use an address at which your parcel can be received during the normal working day, for example, you may want to have your order delivered to your work address if you're not at home during the day.

First Item @ £3.75 (sometimes a shipping supplement may be added for particularly heavy books or specific postcodes*)
2 Items & over @ £5.00 in total

Another Really Important Bit: There are a number of Postcodes in the UK for which we will need to charge a shipping supplement, this will be calculated once we know the size and weight of the shipment. For these orders we will contact customers to agree a suitable and economic method of shipping. There may also be additional time required for delivery to some areas of the United Kingdom. Where possible, we will ship book orders (under 2kg) by Royal Mail to all UK postcodes. Large multiple book orders and books over 2kg are often shipped via APC Overnight or similar, regardless of Postcode.
