Blue Chip signed by Claudia Schiffer - Signed Edition

Hand Signed by Claudia Schiffer to a Coles Bookplate
Hardback Edition
New & Unread - Published 23rd January 2024

A paw-tobiography by Chip the cat, who stepped out of Claudia Schiffer's shadow and took on a leading role in Matthew Vaughn's film Argylle.

Blue Chip gives you a glimpse into a world of fashion, film and celebrity through the eyes of a cat. A firmly tongue in cheek story of how a supernova feline finally escapes a supermodel’s shadow. With colour sketches by renowned fashion illustrator Angelica Hicks, this story charts the perilous path of a loveable cat as he desperately seeks his fame. A perfect gift, appealing to fashion and cat lovers everywhere.

Claudia has kindly answered a few questions about Chip's book:

1. Can you tell us a little about the story of the book, which is told from Chip’s perspective?

Yes, Chip has written a memoir that follows his slightly delusional adventures on a global tour of the fashion and film worlds, as his star ascends. His journey takes him from catnaps at Claridge’s to cocktails at Cannes, with pitstops at the Monaco Grand Prix and Met Gala along the way.

In case you are wondering who Chip is, he plays Alfie in my husband Matthew Vaughn’s latest film ARGYLLE, starring with Henry Cavill, Dua Lipa and Bryce Dallas Howard. There was another cat originally on the film set, but he turned out to be a terrible actor. He was quickly replaced by our family cat Chip. The book sees him turn from a family cat at home into a global film star. He is a total nepo-cat now and his ego has become insufferable.

2. How did the book come about?

Chip wanted to write a memoir and pitched me his story of how a supernova feline finally escapes a Supermodel’s shadow onto the big screen, and how it is rather annoying his only claim to fame is being my cat. So, then I introduced him to the publisher gestalten and the work of fashion illustrator Angelica Hicks, whose clever humour and playful style was perfect for his book.

3. How long did it take to prepare the book?

Well, he sleeps all day so I’m assuming he was up all-night writing.

4. Does Chip actually accompany you on any of your travels?

Yes, he has. Chip has always been very strategic about when and where he makes appearances depending on the event, his mood and the company: call it feline intuition (or delusions of grandeur?). He says you only make one first impression and now this is Chip’s moment.

Things seems to be changing fast - now I will be accompanying him on his travels. He recently made his debut on Jonathan Ross’ show, after having done many fashion shoots with me.

5. What kind of message do you want to convey to readers with your book?

Although I suspect that sometimes he has stretched the truth, ultimately, I think Chip’s message is that dreams can come true.
