Integrated Wireless Power, Data Communication, and Thermal Sensing Systems for Autonomous Multisite Brain Implants by Mohammad Javad Karimi (Hardback)
This book provides professionals in microelectronic implantable bio-medical systems an overview of recent techniques in wireless power and data telemetry. State-of-the-art techniques are overviewed and original methods presented. The book features an up-to-date overview of CMOS wireless telemetry microelectronics for cortical implants. The book gathers all layers of microelectronics wireless power and data transmission for cortical implants, discusses them in a critical manner and proposes solutions, i.e., at circuit and systems and system levels. This book compiles relevant information into a coherent presentation of the technical issues, proposed solutions and their compared efficiency, and details the authors' original approaches. Professionals of microelectronics will find useful and accessible descriptions of the major issues and solutions to wireless telemetry. Researchers and professionals in bio-medical implantable systems will find fully justified novel methods in power and data telemetry and implantable systems telemetry architectures.
About the Author: Mohammad Javad Karimi received a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a major in Electronics from the Sharif University of Technology in 2019. He received a Ph.D. degree in the Department of Electrical and Micro Engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), Lausanne, Switzerland. His research focused on RF CMOS design, low-power analog circuits, and wireless power transmission in biomedical applications. Catherine Dehollain received the Master's degree in electrical engineering and the Ph.D. degree from École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Lausanne, Switzerland, in 1982 and 1995, respectively. From 1982 to 1984, she was a Research Assistant at the Electronics Laboratories (LEG), EPFL. In 1984, she joined the Motorola European Center for Research and Development, Geneva, Switzerland, where she designed integrated circuits applied to telecommunications. In 1990, she joined EPFL as a Senior Assistant at the Chaire des Circuits et Systemes, where she was involved in impedance broadband matching. Since 1995, she has been responsible for the RFIC Group, EPFL, for RF activities. She has been the Technical Project Manager of the European projects, Swiss CTI projects, and the Swiss National Science Foundation projects dedicated to RF wireless micro-power sensor networks and mobile phones. Since 1998, she has been a Lecturer at EPFL in the area of RF circuits, electric filters, and low power CMOS analog circuits. From 2006 to 2014, she was a Maitre d'Enseignement et de Recherche (MER) at EPFL. From 2014 to 2021, she has been an Adjunct Professor with EPFL. Since 2022, she is an Honorary Professor with EPFL. She is the author or co-author of seven scientific books and 190 scientific publications. Her current research interests include biomedical remotely powered sensors, RFIDs, RF circuits, low-power analog circuits, and electrical filters. Alexandre Schmid (Senior Member, IEEE) received the M.Sc. degree in microengineering and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) in 1994 and 2000, respectively. He has been with EPFL since 1994 and has been conducting research in the fields of bioelectronic interfaces, biomedical and implantable microelectronics, non-conventional signal processing (machine learning, AI) and neuromorphic hardware, and reliability of nanoelectronic circuits. Since 2011, he has been a ''Maître d'Enseignement et de Recherche'' (MER) Faculty Member of EPFL. Since 2024, he is a Visiting Professor at Hokkaido University, Sapporo, Japan. He is a coauthor and co-editor of five books, and over 190 articles published in journals and conferences. He has served as the General Chair for the Fourth International Conference on Nano-Networks in 2009, and as an Associate Editor for the IEICE Electronics Express (2009-2014).

Additional Delivery Information (and some really important bits):
UK Delivery
Orders for delivery in the UK are normally despatched by Royal Mail, using the RM 48 Tracked Service with most orders delivered to you within a few days of placing your order with us. For larger parcels, Courier and Signed For delivery services may be used. Signed Books are shipped in our specially made book mailing cartons, with the books themselves wrapped in paper to protect them. Sometimes we may ship your order in several parts, particularly if you have 'Pre-Order' titles in your order or titles which are held in stock with our publishing partners.
The Really Important Bit: Because we use tracked, courier and signed for delivery services, please use an address at which your parcel can be received during the normal working day, for example, you may want to have your order delivered to your work address if you're not at home during the day.
First Item @ £3.75 (sometimes a shipping supplement may be added for particularly heavy books or specific postcodes*)
2 Items & over @ £5.00 in total
Another Really Important Bit: There are a number of Postcodes in the UK for which we will need to charge a shipping supplement, this will be calculated once we know the size and weight of the shipment. For these orders we will contact customers to agree a suitable and economic method of shipping. There may also be additional time required for delivery to some areas of the United Kingdom. Where possible, we will ship book orders (under 2kg) by Royal Mail to all UK postcodes. Large multiple book orders and books over 2kg are often shipped via APC Overnight or similar, regardless of Postcode.
Overseas Delivery
Shipments to EU countries:

All overseas orders are shipped using a 'signed for' courier service - please provide an address at which your parcel can be signed for on receipt. We use the same packaging materials for our overseas deliveries as we do those in the UK. In some cases, particularly large and heavy books, or books being shipped to remote areas, may incur an additional shipping charge - if this is the case with your order, we'll notify you as quickly as possible of these charges and to arrange the additional payment. You can of course cancel your order with an immediate refund should you not wish to accept these additional costs. Shipments to overseas territories may incur additional Duty & Tax costs which could be requested by Fed Ex at the time of delivery. These costs may vary from country to country and are not within our control and will be in addition to the costs paid to us for your delivery.
