This book discusses arthrology in general and of the upper and lower limbs specifically. It covers the examination of each joint of both limbs, considering their basic anatomy and physiology. It presents the various tests required for examining the joints and articulations and the systematic approaches that should be followed in cases of diagnosis of diseases and injuries related to them as well as in specific cases of disease and injuries. The book also defines special tests required in varied situations and mentions precautions that should be taken while examining patients of specific ages or work groups. To simplify the explanation and promote education, original photographs either documented during clinical examination of the foot and ankle or taken using models are used in this book. These photographs are from accomplished orthopedic surgeons and have not been documented anywhere before. In addition, some chapters showcase line diagrams, sketched to illustratively discuss the information being presented. The book will help readers understand the importance of this expanding sub-specialty in orthopedics and will be useful for orthopedic surgeons taking exams in different universities of the world as well as sub-speciality exams of each joint.
About the Author: K. Mohan Iyer did his MCPS (1971) from the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Mumbai, India; MBBS (1971) from the University of Mumbai; D. Orth. and F.C.P.S. Orth. (1975) from the College of Physicians and Surgeons; M.S. Orth. (1978) from the University of Mumbai and M.Ch. Orth. (1981) from the University of Liverpool, UK. During this time, he wrote three theses on fractures of the patella, excision arthroplasty of the elbow and excision of the trapezium for carpometacarpal arthritis of the thumb. Dr Iyer has been associated with K.E.M. Hospital, Mumbai, East Birmingham Hospital, UK, and Dryburn Hospital, Durham, UK. He has presented numerous papers at state, national and international conferences in Singapore and Bangkok. He was in charge of the teaching program in orthopedics for undergraduate students and an examiner for the MBBS degree at the University of Bangalore, India. He has also carried out a wide range of surgeries on all kinds of major fractures, as well as knee arthroscopy, spinal surgery and elbow and total hip replacements. He has published numerous articles and book chapters. In 2008, Dr Iyer moved back to his hometown, Bengaluru, India. He has been instrumental in devising a modified posterior approach to the hip joint, which he has been following from 1981 till today. His research work can be seen on his website kmohaniyer.com.

Orders for delivery in the UK are despatched by Courier and Signed For delivery services and will normally be delivered to you within a few days of placing your order. Signed Books are shipped in our specially made book mailing cartons, with the books themselves wrapped in paper to protect them. Sometimes we may ship your order in several parts, particularly if you have 'Pre-Order' titles in your order or titles which are held in stock with our publishing partners.
The Really Important Bit: Because we use courier and signed for delivery services, please use an address at which your parcel can be signed for during the normal working day, for example, you may want to have your order delivered to your work address if you're not at home during the day.

Another Really Important Bit: There are a number of Postcodes in the UK for which we will need to charge a shipping supplement, this will be calculated once we know the size and weight of the shipment. For these orders we will contact customers to agree a suitable and economic method of shipping. There may also be additional time required for delivery to some areas of the United Kingdom. Where possible, we will ship single book orders (under 2kg) by Royal Mail to all UK postcodes. Multiple book orders and books over 2kg are shipped via APC Overnight, regardless of Postcode.

All overseas orders are shipped using a 'signed for' courier service - please provide an address at which your parcel can be signed for on receipt. In some cases, particularly large and heavy books, or books being shipped to remote areas, may incur an additional shipping charge - if this is the case with your order, we'll notify you as quickly as possible of these charges and to arrange the additional payment. You can of course cancel your order with an immediate refund should you not wish to accept these additional costs. Shipments to overseas territories may incur additional Duty & Tax costs which could be requested by Fed Ex at the time of delivery. If you're coming to Coles by car, why not take advantage of the 2 hours free parking at Sainsbury's Pioneer Square - just follow the signs for Pioneer Square as you drive into Bicester and park in the multi-storey car park above the supermarket. Come down the travelators, exit Sainsbury's, turn right and follow the pedestrianised walkway to Crown Walk and turn right - and Coles will be right in front of you. You don't need to shop in Sainsbury's to get the free parking!
