Written by UCSD faculty that were awarded by the American Academy of Pain Medicine top pain fellowship teaching program this book covers important areas of science required to understand pain medicine. They discuss, post tissue and nerve injury pain states of primary afferents and spinal cord. The authors also cover mechanisms of action of clinically relevant analgesics (opiates and non-opiates). The authors also cover psychological aspects of pain and the pathophysiology of migraines as well as the genetics of pain.This comprehensive book is to guide undergraduate, graduate, and clinicians in the field of pain medicine on important concepts related to the science of pain.
About the Author: Krishnan Chakravarthy is an interventional pain and spine surgeon. He is President and Co-Founder at Solaris Research Institute (SRI). Currently, he is also a partner at Innovative Pain Treatment Solutions and Surgery Center in Temecula CA. He is also the founder of the Empower You Chronic Pain Foundation focusing on patient access, advocacy, and knowledge. Dr. Chakravarthy is an affiliate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and an Affiliate Professor in the Department of Nanoengineering at UCSD Health and VA San Diego Healthcare. His research work has been featured in national and international venues and has been published in top journals, including Anesthesiology, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, and Pain. He has to date lectured in over four hundred regional, national, and international venues, and has more than hundred published works. Expertscape's PubMed-based algorithms placed Dr. Chakravarthy in the top 0.1% of scholars writing about Pain Management over the past 10 years defining him as a "World Expert." Currently, he is President-Elect of the American Society of Pain and Neuroscience, and has won numerous national and international awards for his clinical and research work, most notable include the American Society of Pain and Neuroscience Young Innovator Award.Abd-Elsayed serves as the medical director of UW Health Pain Services, medical director UW Health Pain Clinic, division chief of chronic pain management, and associate professor of anesthesiology at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, Wisconsin, USA. He published more than 350 peer-reviewed manuscripts, edited more than 30 books, authored dozens of book chapters and serves on the editorial board of several prestigious journals, including Pain Physician, Pain Practice, Journal of Pain Research, Neuromodulation, Pain and Therapy, advances in therapy and interventional pain medicine. In addition, Dr. Abd-Elsayed serves as the editor-in-chief for Pain Medicine Case Reports, and serves on the board of directors of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (ASIPP), the North American Neuromodulation Society (NANS) and the council of advisors of the American Society of Pain and Neuroscience. He is currently the president and executive director of the Wisconsin Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (WISIPP).

UK Delivery
Orders for delivery in the UK are normally despatched by Royal Mail, using the RM 48 Tracked Service with most orders delivered to you within a few days of placing your order with us. For larger parcels, Courier and Signed For delivery services may be used. Signed Books are shipped in our specially made book mailing cartons, with the books themselves wrapped in paper to protect them. Sometimes we may ship your order in several parts, particularly if you have 'Pre-Order' titles in your order or titles which are held in stock with our publishing partners.
The Really Important Bit: Because we use tracked, courier and signed for delivery services, please use an address at which your parcel can be received during the normal working day, for example, you may want to have your order delivered to your work address if you're not at home during the day.

Another Really Important Bit: There are a number of Postcodes in the UK for which we will need to charge a shipping supplement, this will be calculated once we know the size and weight of the shipment. For these orders we will contact customers to agree a suitable and economic method of shipping. There may also be additional time required for delivery to some areas of the United Kingdom. Where possible, we will ship book orders (under 2kg) by Royal Mail to all UK postcodes. Large multiple book orders and books over 2kg are often shipped via APC Overnight or similar, regardless of Postcode.

You can of course cancel your order with an immediate refund should you not wish to accept these additional costs. If you're coming to Coles by car, why not take advantage of the 2 hours free parking at Sainsbury's Pioneer Square - just follow the signs for Pioneer Square as you drive into Bicester and park in the multi-storey car park above the supermarket. Come down the travelators, exit Sainsbury's, turn right and follow the pedestrianised walkway to Crown Walk and turn right - and Coles will be right in front of you. You don't need to shop in Sainsbury's to get the free parking!
