The Norman Parkinson Archive is delighted to announce the publication of a very special limited edition book of unique, unseen photographs of the Beatles. The book published in collaboration with Rufus Stone Limited Editions brings together for the first time over 500 rarely seen and previously unpublished photographs of the Beatles by Norman Parkinson. At the time of this shoot Parkinson, was Britain’s most important fashion photographer and was Associate Editor of Queen magazine; the Beatles were fast on their way to establishing themselves as the world’s greatest pop band.
The images include a group of unpublished photographs showing the Beatles recording their second album inside Studio 2 at Abbey Road Studios, September 12th 1963 as well as images taken earlier in the day at the President Hotel in Russell Square.
This album, engineered by Norman Smith and produced by George Martin was eventually recorded in just 28 hours over a six-day period on twin track tapes. The photographs featured in the book have been reproduced and carefully restored from the original negatives kept safely in the Parkinson Archive. While a small selection of these images were originally published in 1964 in a magazine aimed at the American market the vast majority of these photographs will be seen for the first time in over half a century. The images have been carefully arranged to match and identify the songs being recorded, including “I Wanna be Your Man, Little Child and Don’t Bother Me” and a narrative has been written by Mojo Magazines Pat Gilbert. As well as working on the album the band have been captured relaxing between takes.
This exquisitely produced 288 page book, printed and bound in the United Kingdom, promises to appeal to both Beatles collectors as well as Parkinson aficionados and is certain to become a genuine collectors’ keepsake.
About the Author:
Norman Parkinson was the Twentieth Century’s most celebrated fashion photographer. He pioneered epic storytelling in his images, taking portrait and fashion photography beyond the stiff formality of his predecessors and injecting an easy and casual elegance into the art. His photographs created the age of the supermodel and made him the photographer of choice for celebrities, artists, Presidents and Prime Ministers. He was a permanent fixture at historic moments photographing the British Royal Family, in private and public, as well as leading figures from the worlds of film, theatre, and music.
Simon Parkinson is the son of Norman Parkinson, and one of the photographers there on the day.

UK Delivery
Orders for delivery in the UK are despatched by Courier and Signed For delivery services and will normally be delivered to you within a few days of placing your order. Signed Books are shipped in our specially made book mailing cartons, with the books themselves wrapped in paper to protect them. Sometimes we may ship your order in several parts, particularly if you have 'Pre-Order' titles in your order or titles which are held in stock with our publishing partners.
The Really Important Bit: Because we use courier and signed for delivery services, please use an address at which your parcel can be signed for during the normal working day, for example, you may want to have your order delivered to your work address if you're not at home during the day.

Another Really Important Bit: There are a number of Postcodes in the UK for which we will need to charge a shipping supplement, this will be calculated once we know the size and weight of the shipment. Where possible, we will ship single book orders (under 2kg) by Royal Mail to all UK postcodes. Multiple book orders and books over 2kg are shipped via APC Overnight, regardless of Postcode.

You can of course cancel your order with an immediate refund should you not wish to accept these additional costs. If you're coming to Coles by car, why not take advantage of the 2 hours free parking at Sainsbury's Pioneer Square - just follow the signs for Pioneer Square as you drive into Bicester and park in the multi-storey car park above the supermarket. Come down the travelators, exit Sainsbury's, turn right and follow the pedestrianised walkway to Crown Walk and turn right - and Coles will be right in front of you. You don't need to shop in Sainsbury's to get the free parking!
