110 hours, 3 minutes, and 24 seconds into the mission: Buzz Aldrin sets up the first of the scientific experiments that will be deployed on the surface—the Solar Wind Composition Experiment. This pristine foil sheet, hung on a mast so it was perpendicular to the direction of the sun, would collect some of the tiny particles spewed from the sun and hurled through the solar system as solar wind.

  • Signed, titled, numbered and dated on label on verso.
  • Dye-sublimation print on ChromaLuxe aluminum panel (diptych), ready to hang.

About the contributor: Buzz Aldrin made history as one of the first men to walk on the Moon. He is the founder of the Human Spaceflight Institute, a nonprofit committed to advancing human spaceflight below low Earth orbit.
