The Quest of the Sacred Slipper is another rough-and-tumble tale of eastern evil clashing with western civilization by Sax Rohmer. The book has a story of a group of homicidal Muslims who are racing after a slipper that once belonged to the prophet Mohammed in this gory novel by the prolific and commercially successful Sax Rohmer (Arthur Henry Sarsfield Ward). In this narrative, journalist Cavanagh becomes entangled in a dispute about a stolen object-the Sacred Slipper-that is purported to have belonged to Mohammed and was guarded by a covert organization. At the very least, anyone who touches the object loses their offending hand; at the absolute worst, they lose their life. There is a lot of what appears to be supernatural behavior that is later revealed to be commonplace deceit, in keeping with Rohmer's usual style. It's quick to read and has an action that compels the reader to move to the next page.
About the Author: English author Arthur Henry ""Sarsfield"" Ward, well known as Sax Rohmer, lived from 15 February 1883 to 1 June 1959. He is most known for the Dr. Fu Manchu book series, which stars the notorious master criminal. Rohmer, like his contemporaries Algernon Blackwood and Arthur Machen, claimed affiliation with a Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn group. Edgar Allan Poe, Arthur Conan Doyle, and M. P. Shiel appear to have been Rohmer's principal authors of literary inspiration. After penning Little Tich in 1911, Richard Rohmer wrote the first Fu Manchu novel, The Mystery of Dr. Fu-Manchu, first published in a serialization from October 1912 to June 1913. Rohmer didn't return to the saga with Daughter of Fu Mancha until 1931. Stoll had successfully adapted the first three works into a pair of serials in the 1920s. He started the series for Collier's in 1930 but was unhappy with the female supervillain Head Centre at the start. Later, for the Sumuru series, he would go back to Drake Roscoe and his female supervillain. The series was criticized for creating a false image of London's Chinese community as crime-ridden.

UK Delivery
Orders for delivery in the UK are normally despatched by Royal Mail, using the RM 48 Tracked Service with most orders delivered to you within a few days of placing your order with us. For larger parcels, Courier and Signed For delivery services may be used. Signed Books are shipped in our specially made book mailing cartons, with the books themselves wrapped in paper to protect them. Sometimes we may ship your order in several parts, particularly if you have 'Pre-Order' titles in your order or titles which are held in stock with our publishing partners.
The Really Important Bit: Because we use tracked, courier and signed for delivery services, please use an address at which your parcel can be received during the normal working day, for example, you may want to have your order delivered to your work address if you're not at home during the day.

Where possible, we will ship book orders (under 2kg) by Royal Mail to all UK postcodes. Large multiple book orders and books over 2kg are often shipped via APC Overnight or similar, regardless of Postcode.

All overseas orders are shipped using a 'signed for' courier service - please provide an address at which your parcel can be signed for on receipt. We use the same packaging materials for our overseas deliveries as we do those in the UK. In some cases, particularly large and heavy books, or books being shipped to remote areas, may incur an additional shipping charge - if this is the case with your order, we'll notify you as quickly as possible of these charges and to arrange the additional payment. You can of course cancel your order with an immediate refund should you not wish to accept these additional costs. Shipments to overseas territories may incur additional Duty & Tax costs which could be requested by Fed Ex at the time of delivery. If you're coming to Coles by car, why not take advantage of the 2 hours free parking at Sainsbury's Pioneer Square - just follow the signs for Pioneer Square as you drive into Bicester and park in the multi-storey car park above the supermarket. Come down the travelators, exit Sainsbury's, turn right and follow the pedestrianised walkway to Crown Walk and turn right - and Coles will be right in front of you. You don't need to shop in Sainsbury's to get the free parking!
