This collection of essays brings together a wide range of Spanish and Portuguese academics and writers exploring the ways in which our encounters with literatures in English inform our assumptions about texts and identities (or texts as identities) and the way we read them. Mapping, examining, reading and re-reading, fashioning and self-fashioning and, especially, weaving appear as appropriate images that convey the complexity and the nature of creative writing. Such a metaphor has been fundamental for the history of world literature since the Roman poet Ovid had included a tale in his Metamorphoses in which weaving, narration, uncertain identities, and the risks of telling uncomfortable truths all figure prominently. As such, these essays trace the intertwined patterns that knit texts together, weaving identities as well as undoing them and, in the process, interrogating established and official truths.
About the Author: Paula Garcìa-Ramìrez is Associate Professor at the Department of English Philology at the Universidad de Jaén. She is a specialist in English-speaking postcolonial literature, with particular attention to African literature. Within this field of research, she has published several studies on authors including Chinua Achebe, Wole Soyinka, Ben Okri, Ngugi Wa Thiong'o, among others.Beatriz Valverde Jiménez is Assistant Professor at the Department of English Philology at the Universidad de Jaén. She has been a visiting researcher at Loyola University Chicago, Georgetown University and Boston College. She has published articles in journals such as English Studies, and European Journal of English Studies, and with Mark Bosco (Georgetown University) has also edited Reading Flannery O'Connor in Spain: From Andalusia to Andalucìa (2020).Angélica Varandas is Assistant Professor of Medieval English Literature and Culture at the Department of English Studies of the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon where she also teaches Fantasy Literature and Science Fiction in English and English Descriptive Linguistics. Her main area of research is English Medieval Literature and Culture as well as medievalism. She co-edited the book From Manuscript to Digital in 2020. She is also the author of two books published in 2012, Mitos e Lendas Celtas: Irlanda and Mitos e Lendas Celtas: Paìs de Gales. With a colleague, she has just published the first Portuguese critical edition of the translation of Beowulf from the Old English (Lisboa: Assìrio e Alvim, 2022). At the moment, she is the Principal Investigator of the research project English Studies Literature at ULICES (University of Lisbon Center for English Studies) and she is a member of the Executive Board of the same Research Center.Jason Whittaker is a Professor in the College of Arts at the University of Lincoln. He specializes in Romantic literature and the reception of William Blake, and his most recent books include Divine Images: The Life and Work of William Blake (2021) and Jerusalem: Blake, Parry and the Fight for Englishness (2022).

UK Delivery
Orders for delivery in the UK are despatched by Courier and Signed For delivery services and will normally be delivered to you within a few days of placing your order. Signed Books are shipped in our specially made book mailing cartons, with the books themselves wrapped in paper to protect them. Sometimes we may ship your order in several parts, particularly if you have 'Pre-Order' titles in your order or titles which are held in stock with our publishing partners.
The Really Important Bit: Because we use courier and signed for delivery services, please use an address at which your parcel can be signed for during the normal working day, for example, you may want to have your order delivered to your work address if you're not at home during the day.

Another Really Important Bit: There are a number of Postcodes in the UK for which we will need to charge a shipping supplement, this will be calculated once we know the size and weight of the shipment. For these orders we will contact customers to agree a suitable and economic method of shipping. There may also be additional time required for delivery to some areas of the United Kingdom. Where possible, we will ship single book orders (under 2kg) by Royal Mail to all UK postcodes. Multiple book orders and books over 2kg are shipped via APC Overnight, regardless of Postcode.

From 1st July 2021, VAT will be applicable to those EU countries where VAT is applied to books - this additional charge will be collected by Fed Ex (or the Royal Mail) at the time of delivery.

All overseas orders are shipped using a 'signed for' courier service - please provide an address at which your parcel can be signed for on receipt. We use the same packaging materials for our overseas deliveries as we do those in the UK. In some cases, particularly large and heavy books, or books being shipped to remote areas, may incur an additional shipping charge - if this is the case with your order, we'll notify you as quickly as possible of these charges and to arrange the additional payment. You can of course cancel your order with an immediate refund should you not wish to accept these additional costs. Shipments to overseas territories may incur additional Duty & Tax costs which could be requested by Fed Ex at the time of delivery. These costs may vary from country to country and are not within our control and will be in addition to the costs paid to us for your delivery. Collect in Person at Coles Books

Coming by Car
If you're coming to Coles by car, why not take advantage of the 2 hours free parking at Sainsbury's Pioneer Square - just follow the signs for Pioneer Square as you drive into Bicester and park in the multi-storey car park above the supermarket. Come down the travelators, exit Sainsbury's, turn right and follow the pedestrianised walkway to Crown Walk and turn right - and Coles will be right in front of you. You don't need to shop in Sainsbury's to get the free parking!
